My studio and Commission work I have separated into a separate category from the work seen in my two exhibitions Remnant and Anechoic. The octopus railing is made from 95% scrap steel either pulled from dumps in northern VT, or the oddly sized pieces and cutoffs from my shop.
Once the railing was fully assembled I further manipulated the surface of the octopus using the plasma cutter to carve the steel. this technique gives the octopus’ skin a fully three dimensional topography.
